I have decided to begin transporting my books and stories ive been writing to my blog.

Soon i hope to create one of my stories its very own blog and move everything there. But until that day, my stories will have to live here.

Anyway,  I am looking for ideas and anyone with an interest in assisting me with some rough drawings to help me finish one of the stories in particular.

I will be adding more to the story as time allows, but until then enjoy what I have placed up on the pages.

The story I am most excited about is the Witches Nursery.

I know the story isnt finished and it is still very rough, but I will keep perfecting it.

I have this image of what I want for the book, even how the outside of the book looks like. But I could really use some insight, opinions, criticism (be gentle), ideas, praise (always love those). Images and ideas for images would be great. You can also see some of the ones I have already done.

Anyway the stories are on the top links (look up) and there are drop down links to all the sub pages.

Enjoy,

Sky :)

I love to write when i get the chance, but i seem to be so busy these days that i rarely get the chance to write. I love it and i miss it so much, its funny how we put aside the things we love to make way for things we believe is neccesary.

so here is something i scribbled on paper but it is not finished. so forgive the rawness.

I am red and I am beautiful

Even while eating loads of fry bread

I am still beautiful

I’m walking down this path

wearing my blue bling and big blue hooped earings

waving as I see these rez rockets pass

with passengers that I know and love, from now and past.

I think of the past, of family and friends that never last

and of the times we thought our people would not survive the days of fools and gold.

Yes I am red and I am a Beautiful frybread woman

I live in these two worlds simultaneously

but i have it down now, like  intriquite quill and bead work.

but I remember the stories my Ate shared,

of the time they held the knee and fought back for what our ancestors believed.

I still burn sage and make tabacco ties, while sipping on mocha lattes and sending instant message replies.

I guess there are people out there, that call me a modernistic indian, not really red, not really true,

but red is red , no matter who’s eyes you look through.

Red is red, I am red and I am beautiful and so are you.

Sunkmanitu Tank

Many , many winters ago, before you & i were here, there was a turtle keha, a wolf sunkmanitu tanka  & a stream mni kaluze.

It was a nice day & the wolf sunkmanitu tanka was playing with the turtle keha in forest.

The wolf Sunkmanitu tanka always loved to talk about how good he was.

The turtle keha never spoke much about himself & when he would speak not many would listen to him because You see the turtle keha walked & spoke very slowly. so no one ever waited to hear all that turtle keha had to say.

So on this day, turtle keha just walked along slowly listening to all that the wolf sunkmanitu tanka had to say.

The wolf sunkmanitu tanka bragged about all that he could do & he wanted to show them to turtle keha. So he said to turtle keha that he could jump this log, climb this rock and run so fast towards the cliff, but stop just before he got to the end of the cliff. Sunkmanitu Tanka  ran off to get started.

Turtle keha was about to try and say that he should be careful & that he didnt have to show anything because he already knew.
But before he could say anything, The wolf sunkmanitu tanka was already running off towards the big old tree log.

The wolf Sunkmanitu tanka took a big long jump & jumped over the old tree log, then he raced towards a big boulder rock & he climbed that rock with grace & speed. The cliff wasnt big or tall, but the wolf could still hurt himself.  The turtle keha was worried for him, but sunkmanitu tanka was as confident as ever.  When it came time for him to stop, the wolf sunkmanitu tanka couldnt stop, he had gone so fast that he couldnt stop in time.Sunkmanitu Tanka, was trying to stop & he was howling for help, but before anyone could do anything,  he dissapeared over the cliff.

The turtle keha watched this & was so scared for sunkmanitu tanka. Keha walked as fast as he could to the end of the cliff & saw Sunkmanitu Tanka screaming for help in the stream. You see, sunkmanitu tanka couldnt swim.

Keha looked Below the cliff at the  stream called mni kaluze.

The wolf sunkmanitu tanka continued to howl, he was so scared. The wolf spent so much time running &  jumping & boasting & playing & climbing things, that he never spent anytime learning how to swim.

The turtle had to do something to save his friend sunkmanitu tanka, but what could he do??

He wasnt fast like his friend. He wasnt as strong as his friend. He wasnt as brave as his friend.  But just then, turtle thought of something. He remember he had made a little mud slide that he & wolf sunkmanitu tanka  used to get down to the stream safely. They used to have fun, riding down the mud slide.

He ran to the mud slide as fast as he could,  he jumped on the slide & was sliding down really fast. But just before he reached the bottom of the slide he took a big breath & jumped into the stream.

Turtles may be slow on ground, but they are very very fast in the water. He swam as fast as he could to his friend the wolf sunkmanitu tanka. When he got to his friend, he said to him, ” hold on to me & i will swim to the other side. Use my shell. “.

sunkmanitu Tanka agreed & held on to his friend the turtle.  keha swam all the way to the other side of the stream. Finally they arrived to the other side, safely.

The turtle keha looked at his friend the wolf sunkmanitu tanka & said ” Im not fast on land, i can not jump logs & i can not climb rocks quickly & i do not have a howl or fur, but i can swim fast & i can use my shell for many things, even as my home”.

The wolf sunkmanitu tanka apologized ” im sorry for always talking about what i can do, now i know things you can do too, maybe we can do some things together. I can help you climb rocks &  jump logs & you can help me swim streams and teach me how to use a shell”.

Since that day, they helped each other. Even today, you will find wolf sunkmanitu tanka jumping logs & climbing big rocks & you will see turtle keha swiming fast in streams & walking slowly on land with their heavy hard shell.

Turtle keha & wolf sunkmanitu tanka became & remained very good friends, do you have a friend like wolf sunkmanitu tanka or maybe a friend like the turtle keha. If you do, remember that working together and sharing your skills can be more fun, than doing things alone.
