Through Skys Eyes

On the first day, Wakan Tanka created the dog and said:

“Sit all day by the door of your lodge and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past.

For this I will give you a life span of twenty years.”

The dog said: “That’s a long time to be barking.

How about only ten years and I’ll give you back the other ten?”

So Wakan Tanka agreed.

On the second day, Wakan Tanka created the Monkey and said:

“Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I will give you a 20 year life span.”

The Monkey said: “Do Monkey tricks for 20 Years??

That’s a pretty long time to perform tricks and make people laugh. How about I give you back 10 years like the dog did?”

And Wakan Tanka agreed.

On the third day, Wakan Tanka created the Buffalo and said:

“You must go into the fields all day long, suffer under the heat and suffer the cold, have calves, give your meat for food and skin for warmth to support the people.

For this I will give you a life span of 60 years to do all this.

The buffalo said: “That is a very tough life you want me to life for 60 years. How about twenty years and I’ll give you back the other forty?”

And Wakan Tanka Agreed again.

On the fourth day, Wakan Tanka created man and said:

“Eat, Sleep, Play, Marry and enjoy your life. For this, I’ll give you 20 years.”

But man said, “Only twenty years??

Could you possibly give me my 20 years, the 40 the buffalo gave back, the 10 the monkey gave back and the 10 the dog gave back, that makes 80 years, Okay?”

“Okay” said Wakan Tanka, “but remember, you asked for it”.

So that is why for our first 20 years, we eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy ourselves.

For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family.

For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grand children.

and for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone that comes our way.

So now, Life has been explained to you. Live long and prosper and look forward to your barking years ahead.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information, the  satisfaction i get, in informing my fellow man with wisdom and information, is enough.

I am not sure if many of you are familiar to the optimist creed by Christand D Larson written over 80 or 90 years ago. His version say to promise yourself to be these things, mine says “I AM” those things.

So here is my version of the creed.

I AM so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.

I talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet.

To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.

I look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.

I think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

I AM just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I AM about my own.

I FORGIVE the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

I wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature I meet.

I give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to criticize others.

I AM too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

I think well of MYself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud word, but in great deeds.

I live in the faith that the whole world is on MY side, so long as I AM true to the best that is in ME, TO BE TRUE TO WHO I AM AND TRUE TO GOD

I believe if you can promise yourself to come as close to any of the above, that your life and many others (for you will never realize how many lives you really do touch, just by living yours) will dramatically change, as we begin to see what is more important in our life.

Life is about living not about making a living or bringing life to the past. I believe we must bring life to the future by learning from the past and living life today. This will bring up a new positive and strong generation, not filled with hate but with love and respect.

Wow, life seems to hit you all at once, sometime. It seems the moment, you think you have a good thing going, something just pops up to change the entire circle into a square.

In my life time, i have experiences so much good and bad, so many things, learned mountain loads and im still just a toddler, felt so many great things and bad things, had many friends and no friends, been rich & poor (rich is better sometimes, but i miss the simplicity of poorness), felt pain and abuse you can only imagine, felt true love and felt the oneness with my people, Earth and Sky.

But i still havent done it all, still only at the tip of the iceberg.

but still, even with all my 31 years experience of life, it still surprises me, when someone or something just goes “Bang Bang Boom” in your face.

I think god has a huge sense of humor, and thinks he can teach us a little something about ourselves, by sending Inktomi our way.

This is where i am at now. I thought i had it all figured out, thought i had plans, i was setting them all into motion, fully motivated, ready to take on the world, and then “Bang Bang Boom” .

But you know, im not going to vent here, il leave that for my next post. lol

Someone once told me that no matter how bad things go, somewhere down there, (Deep, Deep, Deep, Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep under ground)

are the roots you have planted on this red road.

These roots can die if you let them, or you can try and turn a negative into a positive and make them grow.

I love our native brothers most of the time, they just talk about nonsense (well not always), but you get the most beautiful and amazing words from them too.

One minute its fuel gauges and next its wakan words. Never ceases to amaze me.

Anyways back to this. In life you go through all these strong emotions when things seem to go wrong.

My first one is disbelief, i sti there quietly in shock, but trying not to show anyone.

My secon and im sure this will suprise a few of you, is embarrassment

I’m embarrassed to be in this position, in this circumstance.

Once it all sinks in, i cant seem to get it out of my thoughts, it stays there stewing, stirring and growing.

And there’s my big one. “Anger”.

I get so angry, i want to do something about it right now!. I want someone to pay.

then theres all the damn crying, whinning.. the “Oh Pity me” thing.

Then theres denial, you think no, you only overacted, its not going to be this bad.

Then theres more crying and anger.

Until finaly spirit yells out (or someone does) - Just shut the hell up!!!.

Get over it, its not the end of the world.

its at that time i realize i need some serious help.. and no psychiatrist is willing to see me unless they charge me something ridiculous. Never mind that persons state of mind, lets worry about the state of cash flow. ” So will that be Cash, Card or Credit?”

These people almost make enough to buy themselves their own tribe, but if you luck out on a buck, these guys will sue the pants of you.

i’m not sure what i was before you two came into my life,,

but it sure wasnt living..

Tear stream down my face, when i

think of you to, cause i know how

much i love you and i see all the things i did wrong , it was like as if

i was trying to get away from you both

when all the time i should have been trying to get closer.

I used many things as destractions

didnt give you both the attention you both needed

and i wish with all my heart i could

turn back the hands of time and make it better

I write this today, because I smacked you today nicholas.

I know parents do this on a daily thing, but i dont. it makes me feel terrible whenever i reduce myself to that.

you may not realize this nick and i really hope you see this one day, but it hurt me too..

i walked outside and began to cry. came back inside to apologize and you were asleep.

sometimes i feel like i need to smack, but i really shouldnt.

I only smacked you on the bum and leg with my hand,

I got upset cause i asked you to go to bed like an hour ago and you kept stalling for time.

maybe you just wanted to spend more time with me. it was really cute when i come to think of it.

you two dont get to see many of the things i do

i cry for you both many times and i wish i could make everything better.

sometimes i wish i dont have to be so hard on you nick, but your a hardcase just like your momma. hahah

we are both stubborn and head strong, very rebellious .. two peas in a pod really.

so sometimes i feel i have to be harder on you to get you in line

i know you feel it son!.. dont think i dont. I know many times , i just want to hug you and say its ok..

but the truth is, in the real world there are many times when its not ok. and you have to strive through it all.

i need you to be a leader, show people how to care about one another and care for the animals. i know you have the biggest heart i have ever seen a person to have. you care about others like they are your family, and in truth, they are your family. and i know your like me, we both love our animals like they are family too.

And my beautiful daughter, dont think i have forgotten you.. how strong you are… oh girl! if only you could see how strong and beautiful you really are. you have been my rock so many many times..

you always help with the housework and the first to put her hand up when i need help. and you very rarely get a thank you or acknowledgement for what you do, but you dont let it bother you.

Let me say it here.. THANK YOU my DEAR BABY GIRL!

you always have a smile on your face and always seem to know when i need a hug.

Wow i have the two best children in the world, Even though i know i would rank in the worst parents list if i were to count all the mistakes i have made.. you guys still are turning out the best.

Well today we played touch gridiron at the park, and you both worked together and gave me a hell of a tackle. that was fun, then we came home and i was teaching you nick how to slow dance , it was sooo beautiful cause nick you didnt want to let go..but then you did and gave your sister a turn.. your such a gentleman..

just want you to remember, that I know i work alot and i am constantly busy with the house and routines, but we do have good times as well..

love you both with all of my heart.. all the love i have to give is always and always will belong to the both of you.
